Appraisal Courses

Overview

The refinancing and new mortgage business boom has created an immediate need for appraisal trainees. The American Real Estate Academy is the first proprietary school in Massachusetts to be approved for educational courses by The State Board of Registration of Real Estate Appraisers.

Appraisal employment opportunities exist in many areas such as lending institutions, appraisal firms and city or town assessor's departments. The appraisal field offers new opportunities to build a professional reputation, and to eventually open one's own independent business.

Our courses are designed for students requiring the necessary education to become state licensed appraisers and real estate agents seeking to expand their professional knowledge of appraising. Newcomers to the profession of appraising in will need to complete 150 hours of education, complete two (2) years of experience, and pass the state exam. They will then become licensed real estate appraisers.

Upon completion of the initial 45 hours of instruction and applying for and receiving a trainee's license from The Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Appraisers, an individual has shown serious intent and is now in a position to offer his or her services to an appraisal office. After gaining employment, the trainee would acquire the remaining 105 hours of advanced instruction and the two years of experience. For Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island candidates completion of 75 hours of instruction is required before applying and receiving a trainee license.
